Developing a patient resource for MND patients

Back to Work

Working with patients suffering from Motor Neurone Disease, we were asked to support the creation of a set of self-help tools to provide practical tips about living with MND.

Working in collaboration with Optical Jukebox, we helped to facilitate a series of participatory workshops with MND patients and their carers. The aim of the workshops was to understand the information that MND patients felt they were lacking on diagnosis and the best delivery platform for them to access this. Through the workshops it was concluded that a web app, where content was aimed at those living with MND, but which could be used by anyone interested in this area, would be the best solution. Following workshop findings, we developed a technical specification and design and then commissioned the team at Substrakt to build the site.

It was an absolute privilege to work with our MND workshop group on this project – we had some fun times! You can meet some of the group in the video here

myNIV Launched in October 2014. Patients, carers and health care professionals are using the site across the UK and beyond. It has been a great success in helping those affected by MND find out more and get to online information as and when they need to.

A further extension to these MND online resources is planned for 2015.
