Silverstone Experience

Creating a website to support their ambitions

Back to Work

Opening in 2019, the Silverstone Experience will be a thrilling visitor attraction, telling the captivating story of this historic racetrack. Using state-of-the-art technologies it will make its unique archives available to the public for the first time.

The Silverstone Experience required a website and CMS that would match their ambitions and enable them to build interest in the attraction. The site would then be used to support the Silverstone Experience once it has opened. Further phases of the site would include ticketing, an online shop and in-depth access to archives content.

Our first step in the process was to workshop the site with the Silverstone Experience team. This enabled us to build a detailed site plan and break delivery down into key phases that matched important milestones. Following this we developed a set of requirements for the website and CMS.

The Silverstone Experience engaged us to manage the tender process. This included the issue of a PQQ document to relevant networks. Alongside this we drew up the tender document with the team and issued it to a shortlist of companies.

We then supported the team through the interview process, providing a framework for interviews and assistance with technical, content and user experience questions. With a proven track record in the heritage and visitor experience sectors, Substrakt were appointed by Silverstone Experience as the agency to deliver their website and CMS.

The next element of the project for us was to manage the build and delivery of the site. Working alongside Substrakt and the Silverstone Experience, we ensured that the project stayed on track, and there were no unnecessary pit-stops.

Going live in December 2017, Silverstone Experience is an attractive and engaging brochure site that the team can use to promote the project and build interest before opening. Its bold use of colour and exciting design catch the eye and epitomise the exhilarating nature of the Silverstone Experience.

The next phase of the site’s development will see us working with both Silverstone Experience and Substrakt to enable ticketing integration and grow the site. We’ve really enjoyed the journey so far, and are very much looking forward to the next lap!
