Buffy Shaw’s work anniversary
We’re celebrating the fifth work anniversary of our colleague Buffy Shaw. A project coordinator par excellence, Buffy joined the Ammba team in June 2018, and has been an invaluable member ever since. It’s no overestimation to say that Buffy’s natural flair for admin and meticulous proofreading skills are the stuff of legend around here.
So, to mark this special occasion, we thought it fitting to ask Buffy what she loves about working for Ammba. In no particular order, this is what she told us.
Getting the balance right
Even before the events of 2020, the Ammba team has been pretty well-versed in the art of remote working. With a team that’s geographically spread across Shropshire and Birmingham, we’ve always blended home and office working. Alongside this, we like to work flexibly, striving for a healthy balance between both work and home commitments.
This blended, agile approach has been one of the key things that I’ve enjoyed about the Ammba team. The flexibility to work non-conventional hours around my home life, hobbies and other commitments has been one of my favourite things about the last five years.
It’s a family affair
Lots of organisations class themselves as a ‘family’, and it’s a phrase that’s in danger of becoming a cliche. However, the genuine closeness, camaraderie and care that we all share for each other is like nothing I’ve experienced at work before.
We’re all united by a common goal to be the best that we can be, and we support each other to achieve that. What’s also great is whenever one of us has a problem, or needs help, then we’re all there to get stuck in.
Work aside though, our personalities just click. We all share similar perspectives and, most importantly, sense of humour. We genuinely feel like friends, and that’s something I really value. Dare I say it, even like family.
Learning curve
They say every day’s a school day, and that’s certainly the case for the last five years. Although the main focus of my role is project coordination, I’ve been able to learn a range of new skills. From website development, to content creation and project management, it’s been super exciting to develop my knowledge base and really feel like I’ve grown within my role.
Happy work anniversary
So, it gives us all great pleasure to wish you the happiest work anniversary Buffy. Working with you has been a blast these last five years and we’re looking forward to the next half-decade. Congratulations on your quinquennium!
